Changing and Managing Your Information-System Password

Learn when to replace your initial password and how to manage your information-system password securely.

Change the initial password immediately

Once your information-system account is issued, change the initial password to one of your own immediately. Do not continue using the information systems with the initial password. The initial password will become unusable after a certain period, so change it before that happens.

Manage your password securely

Set a strong password that is difficult for others to guess and difficult to analyze. Do not reuse your information-system password for services outside the university. Manage and use your password appropriately, including keeping it from being seen by others.
