Student Support Scholarship: Eligible Uses and Loan Limit

The Tokyo Denki University Student Support Scholarship is an interest-free loan for approved self-development purposes, including university-organized short-term overseas language training and educational equipment purchases. The loan is limited to one award during the applicable enrollment period.

What the scholarship can support

The Student Support Scholarship is a university loan that supports students' academic work and student life when the purpose is personal improvement. Supported purposes include participation in a short-term overseas language training programme organized by the university and the purchase of expensive educational equipment or similar items for improving the student's own abilities. In some applicable rules, students who are otherwise recognized as motivated to achieve personal improvement may also qualify. The scholarship is described as interest-free in the 2026 rules for the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Future Science, and the Faculty of System Design Engineering.

Use of the loan

The loan must be used for one of the purposes specified in Article 3, Paragraph 1: participation in the university's short-term overseas language training programme, purchase of educational equipment or similar items for personal improvement, or another recognized effort toward personal improvement. The borrowed funds must be allocated to these approved purposes.

One-time borrowing limit

For the 2026 Faculty of System Design Engineering rule, the scholarship may be borrowed only once during the period of enrollment. The 2026 rules for the Faculty of Future Science and the Faculty of Engineering, Second Division, likewise state that selection is limited to one time during the student's enrollment at each school.
