Scholarship Eligibility During Extended Study, Leave, or Study Abroad

This page explains when students are excluded from receiving the Student Support Scholarship and when an existing scholarship eligibility is suspended.

Situations that exclude students from becoming scholarship recipients

Students enrolled beyond the prescribed period of study are excluded from becoming Student Support Scholarship recipients. Students on a leave of absence or studying abroad are also excluded. These exclusions apply to the Faculty of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus for the 2025 academic year, the Faculty of Systems Design and Technology and the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus for the 2026 academic year, and the Faculty of Engineering, Second Division at Tokyo Senju Campus for the 2025 academic year, as specified in the applicable scholarship rules.

Suspension of eligibility during a leave of absence

If a current Student Support Scholarship recipient takes a leave of absence, their scholarship eligibility is suspended. This rule is specified for the Faculty of Systems Design and Technology at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2026 academic year and for the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2025 academic year. For the Faculty of Systems Design and Technology at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2025 academic year, eligibility is also suspended when a recipient takes a leave of absence, and scholarship amounts already lent may be required to be repaid.
