Who Can Take Care and Welfare Studies?
The enrollment rules for Care and Welfare Studies differ by campus, faculty, and academic year. The course is generally restricted to students in their second year or above at Tokyo Senju Campus, while the Saitama Hatoyama Campus listing limits enrollment to students in the teacher-education program.
Tokyo Senju Campus: enrollment from the second year
For the Tokyo Senju Campus listings covered here, Care and Welfare Studies is a 2-credit elective course shown as available in all assigned years and in either semester, but students may enroll only from the second year onward. First-year enrollment is not permitted. Students seeking a middle-school teaching licence must take the course in their second year. Because it is a lottery course, applicants must apply during the designated application period. These rules are shown for the 2025 Future Science Faculty listing, the 2025 and 2026 Engineering Faculty listings, and the 2025 and 2026 System Design and Technology Faculty listings.
Saitama Hatoyama Campus: teacher-education students only
In the 2025 Faculty of Science and Engineering listing for Saitama Hatoyama Campus, only students enrolled in the teacher-education program may take Care and Welfare Studies. The course is a 2-credit elective offered in both semesters and is listed as an exercise course.
