Planning a Balanced Course of Study in Robotics and Mechatronics
Guidance on distributing mathematics, foundation fields, and specialist subjects across your years of study while keeping your future goals in mind.
2026: Balance mathematics and other fields across your study plan
Mathematics is needed for study in all fields, so plan your mathematics subjects systematically rather than concentrating too much study in one academic year. Base your subject choices on your individual future goals, and avoid substantial imbalance among the different fields regardless of your year of study. Maintaining a balanced undergraduate foundation is particularly important if you plan to enter graduate school and deepen your research there.
2025: Build a broad foundation and specialist background
Study the four foundation fields without undue imbalance and continue studying them across each year of your programme. At the undergraduate level, it is also important to take a broad range of specialist subjects.
