Architecture Department Progression Requirements

This page explains the credit thresholds and additional conditions for advancing between academic years in the Architecture Department.

Credit thresholds and additional conditions

For the 2026 academic year, students in the Architecture Department must meet these credit thresholds by the end of each academic year: at least 28 credits to advance from year 1 to year 2, at least 62 credits to advance from year 2 to year 3, and at least 110 credits to advance from year 3 to year 4. Free elective courses are not included in the 62-credit or 110-credit totals. For the 28-credit requirement, free elective courses and the foundational study course titled “Learning at Tokyo Denki University” are not included.

The 2025 records also specify thresholds of 28 credits for advancement from year 1 to year 2, 62 credits for advancement from year 2 to year 3, and 110 credits for advancement from year 3 to year 4, with the same exclusions from the credit totals. For 2025, there is no academic-performance-based progression requirement from year 2 to year 3.

For progression from year 3 to year 4 under the 2025 requirements, students must also have at least 10 human-sciences credits, 6 English credits, and 18 engineering-basic-course credits, including 8 required courses.
