Planning Courses by Unit

Guidance for Information Media Department students on choosing courses within their most interesting unit, taking courses from other units, and preparing for unit-based electives.

2025 course planning and recommended preparation

For the 2025 academic year, plan to complete as many courses as possible in the unit that interests you most so that you can develop specialized abilities. You should also select as many courses as possible from the other units to build broader abilities. Some elective courses have recommended first- or second-year courses in mathematics, information fundamentals, media fundamentals, or programming fundamentals that students are advised to take in advance. These are recommendations for prior study, not stated compulsory prerequisites.

2026 course planning by unit

For the 2026 academic year, it is recommended that you complete as many courses as possible in the unit that interests you most to develop specialized abilities. You should also choose as many courses as possible from the remaining units to develop a broad range of abilities.
