Find where teaching-licence course requirements are specified, how requirements vary by licence type, and which courses must be completed or registered.

Where to Find the Required Courses

The types of teaching licences available at the university are specified in Appendix 2 of the University Regulations. Courses related to the teacher-training programme and other required courses are specified in the regulations of each faculty. For the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus and the Faculty of Engineering (Evening Division) at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2025 academic year, the relevant courses are defined by the applicable faculty regulations. For the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus and the Faculty of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus in the 2026 academic year, the available licence types are specified in Appendix 2, while the teacher-training and other required courses are specified in Appendix 3. For the Faculty of System Design and Technology at Tokyo Senju Campus in 2025, details are provided in Chapter 6, “Teacher-Training Programme.”

Courses You Must Complete and Register

To obtain a teaching licence, students must complete the courses related to teacher training and the other required courses. The required courses differ according to the school level and subject of the licence. Except for some automatically registered courses, students must register for all required courses themselves, including intensive courses. In the Faculty of Science and Technology’s Science Study Model at Saitama Hatoyama Campus in the 2026 academic year, completing the courses designated as teacher-training courses is stated to enable students to obtain a teaching licence in mathematics, science, or information. For a student who wishes to obtain only a high-school teaching licence, the three subjects referred to in the relevant requirements are not compulsory subjects.
