Vehicle Commuting Eligibility and Parking Permits

Requirements for vehicle commuting by Faculty of Science and Technology students at Saitama Hatoyama Campus, including public transportation, licence, vehicle maintenance, and parking permit conditions.

Eligibility requirements for 2025

For students of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus in academic year 2025, vehicle commuting is intended for applicants for whom commuting by public transportation is objectively judged to be extremely difficult. As a general rule, at least six months must have passed since the applicant obtained a driver's licence. The vehicle must also have received the periodic inspection and maintenance required once every year under the Road Transport Vehicle Act. The annual inspection and maintenance requirement also applies in academic year 2026.

Additional requirements for 2026

For students of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus in academic year 2026, vehicle commuting is permitted only when using public transportation is objectively judged to be extremely difficult. As a general rule, at least six months must have passed since the applicant obtained a driver's licence. The Faculty Dean issues a parking permit when the applicant meets the conditions in Article 4. Vehicle commuting is not permitted without an issued parking permit.
