Eligibility for the Tokyo Denki University Emergency Scholarship

This page explains the academic, personal, and financial requirements for the Emergency Scholarship, qualifying circumstances such as a sudden household financial change or disaster, and how applications are assessed.

Basic eligibility and qualifying circumstances

The scholarship is available to students enrolled in a graduate school or undergraduate faculty who have excellent personal qualities and academic performance and who have difficulty paying tuition. Qualifying circumstances include a sudden change in household finances within the past year or damage caused by a disaster, when these circumstances make tuition payment difficult. The scholarship is a university-specific grant established through designated donations.

How applications are assessed

There is no regular application period. For students who have experienced a sudden change in household finances within the past year and have difficulty paying tuition, selection is based on a comprehensive assessment. The assessment considers the student’s use of other scholarships, the circumstances of the household financial change, and any tuition payment deferral, along with whether the student is suitable for the purpose of the Emergency Scholarship.

One-time eligibility condition

For students covered by the 2026 requirements for the Faculty of Engineering, Evening Division, the scholarship is awarded only once during the period of enrollment.
