Repayment of the Student Relief Scholarship

This page explains repayment requirements when Student Relief Scholarship eligibility is cancelled or revoked, and when scholarship status is suspended or affected by a leave of absence.

Repayment after cancellation or revocation

If your Student Relief Scholarship eligibility or recipient status is cancelled under the applicable cancellation provision, you must immediately repay the full amount of the relief scholarship loan you have already received. The same immediate full-repayment requirement applies when recipient status is revoked under the applicable preceding provision. For the 2026 academic year, the cancellation rules apply to the Faculty of Engineering and the School of Future Science at Tokyo Senju Campus. For the 2025 academic year, the revocation rule applies to the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Saitama Hatoyama Campus.

Repayment during or after a leave of absence

If your Student Relief Scholarship status is suspended because of a leave of absence, the relief scholarship already loaned may be required to be repaid. For the 2025 academic year at Saitama Hatoyama Campus, repayment may be required when recipient status is suspended because of a leave of absence. For the 2026 academic year at the same campus, if a relief scholarship recipient takes a leave of absence, the relief scholarship already loaned may be made subject to repayment.
