Residence Status and Residence Card Requirements

This page explains who is defined as an international student in the relevant provisions and the requirement to carry a residence card.

2025: Future Science Faculty

For students covered by the 2025 provision at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Future Science, an international student means a foreign national holding the residence status of Student specified in Appended Table I(4) of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. Students with this status are required to carry a residence card showing that status.

2026: Faculty of Engineering

For students covered by the 2026 provision at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Engineering, an international student means a foreign national holding the residence status of Student specified in Appended Table I(4) of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. Students with this status are required to carry a residence card showing that status.
