Course Assessment Methods

Courses may assess your learning through written examinations, reports, presentations, or other appropriate methods. The assessment method and report submission requirements depend on the course and your academic scope.

Reports as an Assessment Method

Some courses use the preparation and submission of a report as the academic assessment. The submission destination and method vary by course. This applies to the 2025 School of System Design and Technology and Division II of the School of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus, and to the 2026 School of Future Science at Tokyo Senju Campus.

Alternatives to Written Examinations

Depending on the course, an assessment other than a written examination may be used. For the 2026 School of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus, presentations and similar methods may be used instead of a written examination. In the 2025 School of System Design and Technology at Tokyo Senju Campus and School of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus, learning outcomes may be evaluated by another appropriate method in place of an examination.

Assessment Used to Award Credits

For the 2025 School of Future Science at Tokyo Senju Campus, academic assessment is used when deciding whether to award credits. Possible methods include written examinations held at the end of the term, during the term, or in each class, as well as reports.
