Course Planning by Year and Programme
These guidelines outline recommended courses from the first through fourth year, including foundation subjects, specialized study, and preparation for graduation research.
First-year guidance
For the Electronics Systems Engineering Department in the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus, first-year students are advised to take all practical and laboratory subjects, information subjects, and specialized subjects. For the Faculty of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus, information subjects are established according to the needs of each academic field or course. Students should follow the guidance for their academic field or course, and are encouraged to complete these information subjects during the first year because they are often needed in specialized study. In the Science-oriented course model at Saitama Hatoyama Campus, first-year students are advised to focus as much as possible on common faculty subjects in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and information, as well as English and human sciences, to build a strong foundation for specialized study.
Second-year specialized study
In the Electronics Systems Engineering Department at Tokyo Senju Campus, second-year students are advised to take as many specialized subjects as possible.
Third-year preparation for graduation research
In the Electronics Systems Engineering Department at Tokyo Senju Campus, students are advised to take, during their third year, subjects in the field they want to study more deeply and that they will need for their graduation research. The guidance also states that third-year subjects may be taken in the fourth year, but recommends taking the relevant research-area subjects during the third year in preparation for laboratory assignment.
Fourth-year study and advanced optics
In the Electronics Systems Engineering Department at Tokyo Senju Campus, graduation research is central in the fourth year. Students are also advised to take advanced optics-related subjects.
