Planning Coursework for Teacher Certification

For students in the Faculty of System Design and Technology at Tokyo Senju Campus, this guidance explains which teaching licenses to plan for and which certification-related courses are recommended.

Plan for Both Middle School and High School Licenses

For the 2026 academic year, students who aim to teach mathematics or science are encouraged to consider obtaining both middle school and high school teaching licenses. If you are seriously considering taking a teacher employment examination, you are strongly recommended to plan your coursework toward obtaining both licenses rather than only a middle school license or only a high school license.

Recommended Certification-Related Courses

For the 2025 academic year, courses on teaching methods for each subject and courses covering the fundamentals of education are described as basic courses for becoming a teacher. Students are encouraged to make an effort to complete as many of these courses as possible.
