Engineering Foundation and Subject-Area Credit Requirements
This page summarizes credit requirements for engineering foundation, natural science and technology, information, computer, and specified subject areas. Requirements differ by academic year, campus, faculty, department, and curriculum track.
System Design Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus: 2025 requirements
For the 2025 curriculum, the engineering foundation subjects include an "Other" area requiring 2 credits. You must earn these 2 credits from either Physics Overview and Exercises A–C or Introduction to Science and Technology A–D. In the information area, you must earn a total of 4 credits from Information Literacy (Introduction to Mathematics and Data Science) and Computer Programming I.
Faculty of Engineering: 2025 foundation-subject minimums
For the 2025 Faculty of Engineering requirements, engineering foundation subjects must include at least 6 credits in mathematics, at least 6 credits in natural science and technology, and at least 4 credits in computer subjects. For the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, engineering foundation subjects must total at least 32 credits, including these same minimums: 6 credits in mathematics, 6 credits in natural science and technology, and 4 credits in computer subjects.
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering: 2026 computer-subject requirement
Under objective (C) of the 2026 requirements for the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, you must earn at least 4 credits from computer subjects (C3).
Science and Engineering at Saitama Hatoyama Campus: 2026 curriculum track
In the 2026 Electronic Information Engineering curriculum track, the required number of credits for natural science and technology subjects is 8.
Information Media in the Faculty of Future Science: 2025 specified subjects
