Credit Requirements for Teacher-Training Subjects

This page explains the credit requirements for subject-area courses and the courses that may be counted in the independently established subject category.

Subject-area course credits

For the 2025 and 2026 academic years at the Faculty of Engineering on the Tokyo Senju Campus, students must earn at least 30 credits from the courses listed in the table for specialized subject content. The required shaded courses must be included. This requirement applies to obtaining the teacher licence.

Credits for the independently established subject category

For the 2026 academic year at the Faculty of Engineering on the Tokyo Senju Campus, the category of independently established subjects may include credits earned beyond the statutory minimum from courses on two subjects and teaching methods, as well as courses on foundational understanding of education and related areas. Some courses are offered that may be assigned only to this category.
