How Course and Domain Choices Affect Progression
Progression from the third to the fourth year depends on your assigned domain or main course, and some study models also set minimum credits for main and sub-courses.
Progression at the Tokyo Senju Campus
For the 2025 academic year in the Faculty of System Design and Technology, and for the 2026 academic year in the same faculty, meeting progression requirements outside your assigned domain does not qualify you for progression from the third to the fourth year. The requirements for your own assigned domain must be met.
Main- and sub-course credits in the Architecture and Urban Environment study model
For the 2025 academic year in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, students must earn at least 18 credits from the main course and at least 9 credits from the designated subject group of the sub-course. If you take a sub-course, plan your credits across the second and third years so that you meet the progression requirements for advancement to the fourth year. These requirements vary according to the main course you select; the detailed requirements are provided in the progression requirements table.
Main-course requirements in the Mechanical Engineering study model
For the 2025 academic year in the Mechanical Engineering study model at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, progression requirements for students taking a sub-course depend on the system selected as the main course. Students must follow the progression requirements for their main-course system and earn credits with sufficient margin to avoid falling short.
Sub-courses selected across study systems
For the 2025 academic year in the Mechanical Engineering study model at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, progression requirements differ when the sub-course is selected from another study system.
Main-course requirements in the Life Science study model
For the 2025 academic year in the Life Science study model at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, progression requirements vary according to the study system in which your main course is located. You must follow the progression requirements for that main-course study system and take enough credits to avoid a shortfall.
