Restrictions on Duplicate and Equivalent Course Registration

These rules explain when you may not register for courses with duplicate content, the same course offered in multiple sections, or the same course name under another course.

2025 rules: duplicate content and multiple sections

For the applicable course-taking categories in the Faculty of Science and Engineering allocation table, you may not register for a course whose content duplicates a course in that table. This includes a course that duplicates one you have already completed or are currently taking. If the same course is offered in multiple sections, you may register for only one section. This restriction applies even when the instructor or the offering academic system is different.

2026 rules: courses with the same name

At the Saitama Hatoyama Campus Faculty of Science and Engineering, students in the Information System Design curriculum model may not take a course with the same name offered under another course when they take a course marked with ※1. The same restriction applies to students in the Electronic Information Engineering curriculum model: after taking a course marked with ※1, they may not take another course with the same name offered under a different course.
