Requirements for Taking Course Examinations

To take a course examination, students generally need to be properly registered for the course, have attended it regularly, have paid the required tuition and fees, and meet the applicable course and university regulations. Students on leave of absence cannot take examinations.

Registration, attendance, and payment requirements

For the programmes and academic years covered by these rules, a student must be registered for the course being examined and must have attended that course regularly. Tuition and other fees due through the relevant term or semester must also have been paid. The examination rules for some programmes state that, in principle, all four listed eligibility conditions must be satisfied. These requirements apply to examinations held at the end of a term or semester and to midterm examinations where the relevant rule includes both types.

The course must have been taken under the applicable rules

A student may take an examination only for a course that they have taken in accordance with the University Regulations and the rules established under them. This requirement is stated for the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Future Science, the Faculty of System Design Engineering, and the Second Division of the Faculty of Engineering in the academic years specified for each programme.

Examinations are not permitted during a leave of absence

A student cannot take an academic examination during a leave-of-absence period. For the Faculty of Science and Technology rule provided here, a student must not be on leave of absence when taking an end-of-term examination.

Examinations for non-degree course students

A non-degree course student may take examinations in the course subjects they have taken. The same rule is also stated for a course-taking student, who may take an examination for a course they have taken.
