Requirements for Recognized Study Abroad

This page explains when study abroad may be permitted, the need for advance application, and circumstances in which overseas study is not recognized as university study abroad.

When study abroad may be permitted

For students in the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2025 academic year, the University may permit study at a foreign university or similar institution to take its courses when the student wishes to study abroad and the study is considered educationally beneficial. The same permission standard applies to students in the Faculty of Future Science at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2025 academic year.

Advance application and recognition conditions

For students in the Second Division of the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2025 academic year, study abroad must be recognized in advance through the prescribed application procedures. Travel undertaken without prior permission is not recognized as study abroad from the University. Study in a course outside the University's regular educational curriculum is also not recognized as study abroad from the University.
