How to Confirm Class Attendance with Your Student ID Card
Use the classroom card reader to record attendance, check the reader’s confirmation light and sound, and follow your instructor’s directions when a different attendance method is used.
Using the Classroom Card Reader
Card readers for attendance are installed on the classroom wall, either inside or outside the classroom. Gently tap your student ID card on the reader. Attendance is recorded for the class period when you tap the reader from 10 minutes before the period starts until before the period ends.
Checking That Your Attendance Was Read
A successful reading is indicated by an OK beep and a green light. An error is indicated by three beeps and a red light. Check the reader’s light as well as its sound after tapping your student ID card. Depending on the class, attendance may be recorded more than once, including at the beginning of class and during class.
When a Different Method Is Used
The classroom-wall card-reader procedure may not apply in rooms without a card reader, in courses conducted through a remote system such as Zoom, or when the instructor uses another attendance-confirmation method. In these cases, follow the instructor’s directions.
