Cooling-Off Deadlines and Cancellation Notices

This page explains the deadline for sending a cooling-off cancellation notice and the accepted mailing methods.

Cancellation deadlines

For door-to-door sales, including catch sales and appointment-based sales, and for telephone solicitation sales, send the cancellation notice to the other party within 8 days, counting the contract date as day one. For multilevel marketing, send the notice within 20 days, also counting the contract date.

How to send the notice

Send the cooling-off cancellation notice by content-certified mail or delivery-recorded mail, and keep a copy of the notice. A postmark dated on the final day of the applicable period is valid.
