Degree Requirements and Learning Outcomes
This page explains the degree-conferral conditions, standard study period, and diploma-policy learning outcomes for the Advanced Mechanical Engineering programme.
2025 degree-conferral requirements and learning outcomes
For the 2025 academic year, a student in the Advanced Mechanical Engineering programme is awarded a Bachelor of Engineering degree after studying at the university for the prescribed period, earning the credits required for graduation, and achieving the prescribed learning outcomes based on the Faculty of Engineering diploma policy. The required outcomes are to: possess knowledge and skills in traditional mechanical-engineering fields and advanced peripheral fields; use this knowledge and these skills to take on and solve various problems in practice; possess broad foundational knowledge in science and engineering and actively continue acquiring new knowledge and skills; understand the relationship between science and technology, people, and society, with the general education, career awareness, and ethical outlook required of a science and technology professional; and develop a global perspective and general abilities, including communication skills, needed as a future science and technology professional.
2026 diploma-policy learning outcomes
For the 2026 academic year, the Advanced Mechanical Engineering programme defines five diploma-policy outcomes. DP1 requires scientific and technological knowledge and skills in advanced peripheral fields of mechanical engineering, in addition to traditional mechanical-engineering fields, with an emphasis on practical learning. DP2 requires the practical ability to use knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering and its advanced peripheral fields to take on and solve various problems. DP3 requires broad foundational knowledge in science and engineering and an active attitude of continually acquiring new knowledge and skills. DP4 requires an understanding of the relationship between science and technology, people, and society, together with the general education, career awareness, and ethical outlook needed as a science and technology professional. DP5 requires a global perspective and general skills, including communication skills, needed as a future science and technology professional.
