Planning Your Chemistry Course Sequence
For 2026 students in the Science-based Curriculum Model at the Faculty of Science and Technology, this guidance explains how to balance chemistry subjects and prepare for advanced study.
Build a balanced foundation in chemistry
Students who take the Chemistry Course as their main course should balance subjects from both the common science-track subjects and the Chemistry Course specialist subjects, taking the relevant academic fields into account. In the lower years, study the main areas of chemistry, including Organic Chemistry I, Inorganic Chemistry I, and Physical Chemistry I. It is also advantageous to complete foundational subjects such as Quantum Mechanics I and Chemical Kinetics before taking advanced chemistry subjects based on those areas. Enrollment in Chemistry Experiment A requires credits in chemistry experiments.
