Year 3 to Year 4 Progression Requirements
This page explains the progression requirements for the Architecture and Urban Environment curriculum model at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, including required subjects and minimum credits for different major and minor course combinations.
How the progression requirements are determined
The Architecture and Urban Environment curriculum model has its own requirements for progression from year 3 to year 4. The requirements differ according to the combination of major and minor courses. Students planning their major-course study should take the necessary subjects during years 2 and 3, while students planning their minor-course study should also plan their subjects during these years to meet the applicable progression requirements. The detailed requirements depend on the selected course combination.
Required specialized subjects
For the Architecture and Urban Environment target course, all required Course Specialized Subjects must be completed, excluding graduation research and similar subjects. For a target course in another division, all required Course Specialized Subjects of the main course must be completed, also excluding graduation research and similar subjects.
Requirements stated for the 2025 academic year
Students must earn at least 14 credits from the required Division Common subjects of their main course.
Additional requirements stated for the 2026 academic year
For the relevant major and minor course combinations, students must earn at least 18 credits from the major course and at least 9 credits from the designated subject group of the minor course. If the target course is Architecture and Urban Environment, students must also earn at least 3 credits from the Division Common subjects Materials Experiment, Soil Experiment, Structural Experiment, and Hydraulics Experiment. When the main course is the Urban Environment Course, Hydraulics Experiment is required.
