Planning Your Course Sequence and Annual Credit Pace

This guide explains the study sequence and recommended annual credit pace for the Mathematical Information Science Course under the Science-based Study Model.

Recommended Study Sequence

In the first and second years, build foundations in mathematics, computers, and information through natural science subjects, specialized foundation subjects, and common science subjects. Introduction to Mathematical Information Science and Mathematical Programming I and II are positioned as important foundation courses. After course placement in the second year, progress to specialized subjects in the second and third years, then undertake graduation research in the fourth year. This sequence is described for the 2026 academic year and, with the same year-by-year structure, for the 2025 academic year.

Annual Credit Planning

For the Mathematical Information Science Course, earning about 40 credits in each year through the third year is recommended as a planning guideline. This guideline is based on the 124 credits required for graduation and is not stated as a mandatory requirement. For the 2025 academic year, the fourth year is centered on Graduation Research I and II, totaling 6 credits, as well as graduate-school and employment activities; this is why completing about 40 credits per year through the third year is recommended.
