Subject-Specialist Credits for Teacher Certification
This page explains the required credits from subject-specialist courses and how credits from independently established university subjects may replace part of the requirement.
Required credits and permitted substitution
For the 2025 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus in the School of Engineering, the supplied requirements include two different totals for courses listed under subject-specific professional matters: at least 20 credits in some statements and at least 30 credits in another. The shaded courses must be included in the courses taken. The supplied information does not establish which total is controlling.
Where the 30-credit requirement applies, up to 5 of those credits may be replaced by credits earned in independently established university subjects. The required number of credits from subject-specific professional matters is then calculated as 30 credits minus the number of replacement credits. For example, earning 5 credits in independently established university subjects reduces the subject-specific professional matters requirement to at least 25 credits.
