Interview Guidance: Eligible Students and Purpose
This page explains the purpose of interview guidance and the conditions that identify students for guidance at the Faculty of Science and Technology.
Purpose of interview guidance
The faculty provides interview guidance as early, appropriate support for students with poor academic performance, low motivation to study, or similar difficulties. The aim is to improve study motivation and learning activities. Guidance is also provided when continuing poor academic performance makes progression or graduation difficult.
Students identified for guidance
For first-year students in the first semester, interview guidance applies when either of the following is true: the student registered for zero credits, or the student was absent for at least one month without notice and without a legitimate reason.
From the second semester of the first year through the third year, students are identified for guidance when either their GPA in the preceding semester was below 1.1 or they were absent for at least one month without notice and without a legitimate reason.
Repeat-year students are also listed as interview-guidance targets, but no threshold or additional condition is stated for this category.
Two-consecutive-semester study-guidance condition
For the study-guidance condition covering two consecutive semesters, periods of leave of absence are excluded. Both of the following criteria must be met: fewer than 8 earned credits, excluding courses not subject to the course-registration-limit restriction, and a GPA below 1.0 in each of the two consecutive semesters.
The condition also includes an interview finding that the student's study motivation is lacking. The supplied rule begins this condition and indicates that the criteria and the remainder of the rule continue on the following page.
