Student Support Grant Scholarship: Eligibility and Loss of Eligibility

This page explains who may receive the Student Support Grant Scholarship, what financial circumstances may qualify, and situations that can end eligibility.

Who may be eligible

For the 2025 academic year, the regulations provide grants to students enrolled at Tokyo Denki University or in the Tokyo Denki University Graduate School. Eligible students include enrolled graduate and undergraduate students who can cooperate as student volunteer staff. For the 2026 academic year, the grant is available to students enrolled at Tokyo Denki University or in its Graduate School. Selection may be made from students whom the Student Support Center Director and the relevant graduate school chair or faculty dean jointly recognize as being in need.

Financial circumstances that may qualify

For the 2025 academic year, the scholarship supports students who are motivated to study but have difficulty paying tuition because of a sudden change in household finances within the previous year. This includes a household financial change caused by a natural disaster. The scholarship is an independent university grant funded through donations to the Tokyo Denki University Support Fund. For the 2026 academic year, students may be selected if they need financial support because of an accident, disaster, or similar event.

Situations that may end eligibility

For the 2026 academic year, a recipient may lose eligibility if they take a leave of absence during the academic year in which they receive the grant, when the Student Support Center Director considers them unsuitable as a scholarship recipient. Eligibility may also be lost if the recipient receives disciplinary action under the university rules, such as dismissal, removal from the register, suspension, or reprimand, and the Student Support Center Director considers them unsuitable. Submitting false statements or other false information in documents submitted to the university may likewise result in loss of eligibility when the Student Support Center Director considers the recipient unsuitable.
