Eligibility for the Social-Student Course

This page explains the work-experience, age, continued-employment, and post-admission review conditions for joining the Social-Student Course.

How affiliation is decided

Applicants who are admitted may join the Social-Student Course only if they meet at least one of the listed eligibility conditions and pass a review after admission. This procedure applies to the 2025 Faculty of Engineering, the 2025 Faculty of Engineering (Evening Division), and the 2026 Faculty of Engineering (Evening Division). For the 2025 Faculty of Engineering, the phrase “at the time of admission” in Article 4, paragraph 1, item 2 may be read as “after admission”; the operation of this provision is separately specified.

Eligibility conditions in 2025

For the 2025 Faculty of Engineering, one eligibility condition is having at least one year but less than three years of previous employment experience with a company or similar organization and being at least 25 years old at the time of admission. Another condition is having less than three years of employment experience at the time of admission and planning to continue working for a company or similar organization after admission. The same conditions are stated for the 2025 Faculty of Engineering (Evening Division). Having at least three years of employment experience at the time of admission is also listed as one eligibility condition for both 2025 faculties.

Eligibility conditions in 2026

For the 2026 Faculty of Engineering (Evening Division), one eligibility condition is having at least three years of employment experience with a company or similar organization at the time of admission. Another condition is having one to less than three years of previous employment experience and being at least 25 years old at the time of admission. A further condition is having one to less than three years of employment experience and planning to continue working for a company or similar organization after admission.

What counts as employment experience

For the 2026 Faculty of Engineering (Evening Division), the employment experience described in these conditions assumes work at a technology-related company or similar organization. It includes experience directly or indirectly involving technical work. Experience such as serving as a practical-training assistant at a high school is also included.
