Minor Course Credits and Progression Requirements

This page explains the credit requirements for minor courses and the progression rules that apply when your minor is in another academic system.

Requirements for a Minor in Another Academic System in 2025

For the 2025 academic year, students in the Science and Engineering Faculty following the Science study model at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus must earn 9 credits from the designated subject group for the minor course when the minor is in another academic system.

Cross-System Minor Progression Rules in 2026

In the 2026 academic year, progression requirements differ when the minor course is selected from another academic system. For the Mechanical Engineering study model, the progression requirements for a minor depend on the academic system selected as the major course; students must confirm the progression requirements for their major system and ensure that they have earned all required credits. For the Electronics and Information Engineering study model, students must check the applicable progression requirements table when selecting a minor from another academic system. When the minor course is in another academic system, the required credits from the minor's designated subject group for progression from the third year to the fourth year are 9.

Minimum Credits for the Major and Minor Courses

For the 2026 academic year, in the Architecture and Urban Environment Engineering study model, the specified two-course combinations require at least 18 credits from the major course and at least 5 credits from the minor course.
