Exam-Room Rules for Late Arrival and Leaving Early

This page explains when late arrival is permitted, whether lost exam time is restored, and when students may leave the exam room. The applicable rule depends on the academic year, campus, and faculty.

2026 rules at Tokyo Senju Campus

For the Faculty of System Design and Technology, a late candidate may enter within 30 minutes after the examination begins, but the examination time is not extended. A candidate may leave only after 40 minutes have elapsed from the start of the examination. For the Faculty of Science and Technology for Future Life, a late candidate may also enter within 30 minutes, without an extension of examination time, and may leave after 40 minutes have elapsed.

Special-subject and in-class examinations in 2026

On specific-subject examination days at the Faculty of Science and Technology for Future Life, entry is permitted until 30 minutes after the examination begins. Leaving the room is permitted from 40 minutes after the start until 10 minutes before the examination ends, in accordance with the proctor's instructions. When the examination is held during class, the proctor decides how lateness and leaving the room are handled.

2026 rules at Saitama Hatoyama Campus

For the Faculty of Science and Technology, a late student may enter within 30 minutes after the examination begins, but the examination time is not extended. A student may leave the examination room only after 40 minutes have elapsed from the start.

2025 rules at Tokyo Senju Campus

For the Faculty of Engineering, lateness is permitted within 30 minutes after the examination begins, but the examination time is not extended. Leaving is permitted after 40 minutes have elapsed from the start. For the Faculty of System Design and Technology, a candidate may arrive up to 30 minutes after the examination begins, without an extension of examination time, and may leave only after 40 minutes have elapsed.

2025 rules at Saitama Hatoyama Campus

For the Faculty of Science and Technology, entry is not permitted after 30 minutes have elapsed from the start of the examination. Leaving is not permitted until 40 minutes have elapsed, and leaving is permitted only until 10 minutes before the examination ends.

2025 rules for the Faculty of Engineering, Second Division

A late candidate may enter within 30 minutes after the examination begins, but the examination time is not extended. Leaving is permitted after 40 minutes have elapsed from the start.
